Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!
VisAustralia would like to take this opportunity to wish you all the best for Christmas 2018 and for the New Year. It has been another big year for VisAustralia, for the Australian migration program and, above all, for our clients and friends who have been granted visas and who have moved to Australia.
The Australian Government has allocated 190,000 permanent visa places to the permanent visa program this year. Of these, about 70% are for skilled workers, being people who have qualifications and experience in demand in Australia, and about 30% are for family members of Australian permanent residents. Migration under this program produces great benefits both for Australia and the people moving to this country. VisAustralia is pleased to be part of this process and to help you make the transition successfully.
In addition to the Skilled visa program Australia is a major destination for international students. This reflects the quality of the education system and the lifestyle. In 2018 there are 640,362 international students enrolled in education programs in Australia. Many of these students are seeking pathways to permanent residence. Not all of them will be successful and it is critical to obtain formal advice from a migration agent before coming to study.
In Australia 2019 will be an election year. The current Australian Government is formed by the Liberal Party, being the conservative party in Australia. The Liberal Party has made contradictory statements about the migration program, at times supporting the program and at other times seeking to limit the program. In part these contradictory comments reflect nature of the Liberal Party and the views of its right wing “Trumpian” members who are traditionally not in favour of migration juxtaposed with the views of the business community who are in favour of expanding the program. The alternative government, the Australian Labor Party, has a track record of supporting migration and migrant communities and running a settled migration program.
The Australian people themselves are great supporters of multiculturalism with over 50% of Australians either being born overseas or their parents were born overseas.
VisAustralia is hoping the election in May 2019 will produce a Government committed to a stable migration program that continues to allow our clients to plan successful migration journeys.
We were would like to thank Emmanuel Rodríguez and his team including Indira Rivera and Carmin Romero for their work in representing VisAustralia in Mexico and Latin America.
